Honorable Mention International Prize H&P Architects
Brick Cave, H&P Architects, Vietnam
International Jury Motivation. The building is located in a suburban municipality of Hanoi - which has undergone rapid urbanization - perfectly fitting into an inhomogeneous urban context, without
isolating itself, but defining a protected area of the highest quality. The external envelope and the internal volume create an intermediate space made up of plays of light and shadows, where the vegetation also grows, forming an intimate environment that, despite being in the middle of the urban fabric, creates a world of its own. The two outer layers, integrated together, work as a filter to eliminate the negative aspects of the surrounding environment and bring nature inside, defining small family and domestic spaces, suitable for being used differently at different times of day adapting to the needs of the tropical monsoon climate of northern Vietnam.
