Honourable Mention Regional Prize, Bricolo Falsarella Associati
Corte Renèe, Verona, Italy
Motivation of the jury. The jury has awarded with a mention the Corte Reneè. It is an elegant restoration of a small and abandoned "borgo" that not only recovers the habitability of the Heritage but redefines the relation between the preexisting constructions.
A new volume links the corner between the remaining parts. It is a great example of design but also of construction and demonstrates that imitation is not the best way to become part of the Heritage. To integrate the new with the old the project tries to perform, structurally the same way as the former walls but finding a specific presence, not just by imitation.
As the heritage works with compressive walls the new structure works in the same way. The massive stone walls find a Contemporary solution in this construction with cyclopic lime concrete. So the addition presents a specific personality but in a perfect continuity with the past.
